South Korea government is desperately forcing students to have dates to increase the population
South Korea has a very low birth rate statistics in the world. And to remedy this situation, two South Korean universities are offering courses that make it mandatory for the students to date their own classmates. The universities are Seoul’s Dongguk and Kyung Hee.
The universities have courses about dating, sex, love, and relationships that intends to make this generation forget about the family traditions.
Because of the economic pressures that were instilled in the young people’s minds about the realities of financial life, the young people have foregone relationships and marriage.
This new generation is called the Sampo generation.
The founder of “Marriage and Family” course Professor Jang Jae-sook stated that in this course, the students are educated regarding finding the right person to marry and how they can have a financially stable marriage. She believes that engaging in real life situation about the relationship has the same significance as academic study.
Professor Jae-sook said that young Koreans are having difficulty socializing to meet new people, and they are too busy. That’s why the course includes students having to date their classmates. Part of the homework is going on three dates with their classmates and talk about relationships.
The “Love and Marriage” course has reached its influence to the Kyong Hee university classes, and also in Inha university which is in Incheon. The latter university is specialist engineering college, and the students have the option to study more about combining love and success.
This university course was created because of the alarming statistics about marriage. Especially when in the year 2016, according to Statistics Korea, that the number of the couple getting married in South Korea dwindled to its lowest percentage so far ever since the year 1977.
