Legal marijuana Projected To Create More Jobs Than Manufacturing By 2020

The prospect of new jobs may help in making the Trump administration back off from destroying the cannabis industry.

The New Frontier Data report stated that there is a projection of creating more than a quarter of a million jobs in the cannabis industry by 2020. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), this job availability projection is way more than the predicted jobs from the manufacturing industry, utilities or government jobs.

The BLS stated that the manufacturing industry is expected to have a recession in 2024 by 814,000, the utility industry will have 47,000 jobs lost, and the government jobs will deteriorate by 383,000. This statistic projection backed the suggestion that healthcare-related industries are booming at a fast pace.


The projections by the New Frontier were based on the markets that have legalized marijuana already.
Founder and CEO of New Frontier Data Giadha Aguirre De Carcer mentioned that the marijuana industry is a major source of jobs in the US economy. With the job declines in other industries, the cannabis will continue to soar.

The Marijuana Policy Group analysis is where the New Frontier based its projection. According to the Marijuana Business Daily, the cannabis industry already has 100,000 to 150,000 employees with almost 90,000 workers in plant-touching companies.


Possible marijuana workers are trained in a formal institution like Oaksterdam University in California. Executive Chancellor of Oaksterdam Dale Sky Jones said that there is no need to fear DEA prosecution anymore in working in the cannabis industry. It has been decided in a U.S. appeals court that the federal government will not go after people who abide by the state law.


Chief Executive Officer of CannaRoyalty Mark Lustig stated that government programs are beneficial for entrepreneurs.
