Paris will be even more romantic when petrol and diesel cars have been banned.

France is ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to romance, food, fashion and beauty.  Now, they’re going to be ahead of the world when it comes to clean air and a minimal carbon footprint.  France are trying to make their country carbon neutral and are slowly phasing out the use of fossil fuels and any toxic chemicals that are bad for the environment.

If you’ve been to Paris, you will understand what traffic congestion means. And you will get that while Paris is the most magnificent city, it’s also a polluted one.  The fumes from the cars are extreme.  But President Emmanuel Macron has a plan.  He’s working closely with the department of transport to ban all petrol and diesel vehicles. 

It’s a long term plan and will be introduced in phases.  By the year 2040 - and that is only 20 years away - France will have no cars on the road that use petrol or diesel.  Vehicle manufacturers will be under strict new laws to produce only electric or hybrid vehicles and all manufacturers need to have action plans to phase out their petrol guzzling vehicles.  

Volvo has already started and from next year, 2019, will only build electric and hybrid cars.

It’s not only in the transport industry where France will be looking at carbon emissions.  By 2022 they plan to stop using coal for electricity and will only use renewable energy.  That’s just two years away! 

France has a long term plan to work towards clean and healthy air and an environment that is safe and healthy.  They want to reverse the effects of global warming and they are encouraging others to do the same. French citizens are super aware of the environment and the recycling programs in France are some of the best.

Ditch your plastic bags.  And your coffee cup.  And your petrol fuelled car.  Get clean.  Get green!
