US Promisingly Cuts Violence by legalising Marijuana
Marijuana is the highest profit earning drug in the US, specifically in the states that border Mexico.
The reports reveal that the number of violent acts in the country has been skyrocketed due to the Illegal drug-trafficking especially in marijuana business, as there are many drug cartels vying on it for higher profits.
In the light of legalising marijuana, people are given opportunity to grow and sell them to pharmacies near-by.
“These laws allow local farmers to grow marijuana that can then be sold to dispensaries where it is sold legally. These growers are in direct competition with Mexican drug cartels that are smuggling the marijuana into the US. As a result, the cartels get much less business,” said the economist Evelina Gavrilova, one of the study’s authors.
The recent research done on after-effects of legalising marijuana revealed a promising decrease in the violent activities related to it.
The drug cartels that previously had competition with other cartels have lost the competition as smuggling does not take place. It says there are seven cartels in Mexico that have authority in the business and now face loses in income. In Many states the number of violent activities have dropped the number by considerable percentages and the change reported in California is salient as its dropping down percentages are higher than other states, while Arizona remains to be stagnated in the process.
Gavrilova and fellow researcher Takuma Kamada claim that legalising marijuana is the most successful and efficient method to reduce drug related violence in the country while regulating it, allowing people to pay taxes for it.
There is a prediction made that, Colorado and Washington which have needy facilities for drug trade would profit the most under this legalising process.
It is recorded that more than twenty states follow the aforementioned law and there is one pharmacy out of six which take marijuana on credit.
It has also been found out that facing the threat of losing their income the Cartels in California are interested in legal drug trafficking, meanwhile some other traders work on popularising another form of drug other than marijuana to run their business.
