New study show that liberals are just as prone to confirmation bias as conservatives.
Controversial debates have erupted in the history of United States regarding the partisanship of Liberals and Conservatives.
The most common notion has been that, Liberals identify themselves as more intelligent and as true heirs in the political field.
It has been an institutionalised idea, that generally the number of Liberals has always outnumbered the Conservatives in many institutions, especially in universities.
As Jonathan Haidt of New York University mentions, decade ago the number of Liberal academic psychologists outnumbered the number of Conservative psychologists. Yet at present it is reversed. This phenomenon clearly makes a valid point with the recently published journal of experimental social psychology.
As the study unveils, both the Liberals and Conservatives are on equal grounds on their aversive levels when they reject listening to ideas which they dislike. It is said that when they hear ideas concerning serious issues in society which they do not like to hear being a partisan, both Liberals and Conservatives react the same way.
To put this simply, the study does not identify one party over the other, concluding that both are like two sides of a same coin ideology who share the same weight of criticism. The recent survey done by the social science research network has proven the same idea in their research conducted by referring to forty-one studies.
By alluding to the state of Seattle, the above study suggests that, there are no territorial factors that define partisanship of a person as well. It is said that the fake social media news worsen the effect of hyper-partisanship among people. Referring to the “regressive left” it says these they are “alternative realities” that have been introduced in defense of the concept of liberalism.
This scientific study suggests that, the liberals can no longer be identified as those who embrace science and technology or those who are superior to conservatives. The study rejects the stereotypes that have been used to refer these two parties. Then accordingly Science does not identify Liberals as so- called open minded or Conservatives as so-called close minded. It is said for a person who has a keen eye on political history there is no need of any verification to approve this new scientific finding
New study show that liberals are just as prone to confirmation bias as conservatives.
