China causes outrage by banning online content of 'abnormal' homosexual relationships

China really does have the worst human rights abuses when it comes to the internet.  The China Networking Services Association are targeting people online who they say are practicing ‘abnormal sexual behaviour’ and are going after anyone who posts anything to do with homosexuality, sex work and drugs. They are in particular looking at homosexuals and anyone deemed to be doing ‘incorrect’ will be targeted.

China are also targeting celebrity gossip sites that they deem to be vulgar, and anything that does not fit in with their idea of what ‘good aesthetics’ are.   It is interesting that China are doing this, considering they have some of the worst human rights abuses in the world and certainly have some of the worst human trafficking going on in their country.  

Chinese freedom activists have condemned the latest action by the Chinese authorities and Chinese sexologists are also condemning the move.  To stand up against the Chinese government though is dangerous.  But activists are outspoken saying that the Chinese censorship system is a huge violation of its citizens human rights.  Sexologists are saying that no one can say what the correct sexual preference is, and how dare the Chinese authorities tell people what is and what is not okay.

China has a terrible record with gay rights and less than 15% of gay people have had the courage to be honest with their own families about their sexuality.  They suffer huge discrimination.  Although homosexuality in China is not an offence - it was decriminalised in 1997 - it is thought to be a ‘mental illness.’

Spare a thought to the brave activities in China, and to the many gay people.  LGBQT rights are being stood up for worldwide and it is time China starts being a lot more accepting, open and honest.
