Ashton Kutcher's organisation identifies 2,000 child victims of trafficking in six months

Film star Ashton Kutcher has set up an organisation that identifies and helps child victims of human trafficking and the work he is doing is astonishing.  He has co-founded a company called THORN -Digital Defenders of Children.  THORN builds software to fight human trafficking.  Kutcher is working with his ex-wife and actress Demi Moore.  They have identified 2000 child victims in the last six months.  That gives you an idea of how huge the problem of child trafficking is.

Kutcher has two children with actress Mila Kunis.  He says that having his own kids has made him more aware of how awful child trafficking is.  He has met victims in Russia, India and Mexico.  He has met victims who have been trafficked in the USA, his own country.  He’s accompanied the FBI on raids and says he has seen things that no person should ever have to see.

Human trafficking is a huge and very current problem.  It affects children and women from all over the world.  Kutcher has seen video footage of young children being forced into sex work and has seen what they have to endure on a daily basis.

He recently helped a young girl who was being raped by an American sex tourist in Cambodia.  The child was seven years old.  She had been abused for three years and Kutcher stepped into help.  His organisation was the last line of defence.

At the trial, which thankfully took place, Kutcher blew a kiss towards former US presidential candidate John McCain.  The senator, a Republican, apparently told Kutcher:- ‘Ashton, you were better looking in the movies.’  But he was extremely grateful for the actor’s help.
