A Muslim millionaire who gave all his money to charity has passed away from cancer

Muslim millionaire Ali Banat was diagnosed with cancer in 2015.  He was one of the wealthiest men in Australia, but not even all his money could save him.  Although he saw every single specialist possible, and did everything he could to stop the disease, Ali Banat died from his cancer in 2018.  He actually lived for two years more than his doctors had thought.

Ali Banat did not waste those few extra years.  Although he had previously lived a life of excess and luxury, he chose to use his disease for good.  While battling cancer, he spent his time fundraising and donating donating money to under privileged Muslim, worldwide.  Instead of flitting his own money away, Banat realised he did not need that extra car or item of expensive clothing.  Instead, he changed his life goals, sold his business and started philanthropic work.  He researched and then travelled to Togo, a country in Africa where more than half of the country live in poverty.  Togo has a fairly large Muslim population and Banat connected with the people.  He donated his own money to build a Masjid and to establish local schools.

 

He did not only focus on Togo but also began a project called ‘Muslims around the World.’  It’s all about upliftment, providing housing and education, looking after the poor, helping and providing support.  Banat helped to build medical clinics and hospitals and schools, and to improve the condition of current medical facilities and schools.

Although he battled cancer for close to three years, Banat battled his disease with grace and dignity.  He never stopped caring for others and he brought awareness to the poor, not just Muslims, all around the world.  He has left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.  And inspired people who are also sick.
