We are all born creative geniuses but something goes terribly wrong as we get older!

When we are children we use our imagination. We make things, we play with different materials, we create. Our parents encouraged us to sing, dance and paint. Daydreaming is the norm. And it is through daydreaming that we are able to be creative. It is through relaxing and playing around that we can be innovative. It is through creativity that we can be brilliant.

And yet, as we grow older, our creative genius is stifled. NASA has created specialized testing to measure the creativity of future rocket scientists and engineers. The results have been astonishing. They show that creativity, which is the most important thing a person can have, gets stifled.

Think of the genius people you know. Einstein, Picasso, Dickens, and Michelangelo. They were born creative, just like you and me, and they stayed creative. Their genius was recognized. But NASA’s testing shows that most children stop being creative from about the age of 5 onwards.

The NASA tests, designed by Dr. George Land, show that kids don’t lose their creativity. Rather, it is our education system, and our parenting system, that slowly starts destroying their creativity. It is our systems that are not allowing genius to reach its full potential.

The first round of NASA tests was conducted on over 1500 children between the age of 4 and 5. Their creative genius came in at 98%. These kids are still daydreaming, playing with mud and water and paint. But the next set of tests, conducted on the same kids five years later, showed their creative genius had dropped to just 30% creative genius. And another ten years after that, to just 12 %.

Shockingly, it is our education system that robs children of their creative genius. Our school system insists on conformity. It is a result based education, not an imaginative education. We need to change things before it is too late. We need our creative genius back!
