Alcohol and coffee can help you live past 90, study says
According to study from the UC Irvine Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND), drinking coffee and wine could help you live longer.
The study, called "The 90+ Study," examined the reasons why some people reach the age of 90 and beyond.
The researchers evaluated about 1,700 nonagenarians-to determine what daily key habits affected their health.
The study found that "People who drank moderate amounts of alcohol or coffee lived longer than those who abstained."
“I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity,” Dr. Claudia Kawas, a key researcher for the study, recently said at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in Austin.
The study also found that people who consumed two glasses of beer or wine everyday decreased their chance to experience a premature death by 18% and those who drank two cups of coffee a day decreased their chances by 10%.
