New French Law Makes It Illegal To Contact Employees After Work Hours

Spending weekends and after work hours with family and friends becomes dreadful when in the middle of bonding you receive an email or call or text regarding work. The tendency to bring work wherever you go does have a physical and mental health ramification. That is the main reason why in France, it will soon become illegal for employers to contact employees beyond their working hours.
France has been known for a country that gives 30 days off annually to their employees, and provides 16 weeks of family leave which is paid in full amount of their work hours. This new law about prohibiting employers with 50 or more employees to be contacted after working hours will make the country more fascinating.

There has been a study that people have a very hard time detaching themselves from work, and so France wants to make sue that their citizens can have their time off well spent with family and friends without any distraction from work.

Though there is no legal consequence in violating the new law, the companies will need to establish a time for employees to not be contacted.

According to partner at Elia management consultants in Paris Linh Le, the new law is a necessity to avoid physical, emotional and psychological stress to employees. The amendment received many criticisms when it was first brought out, but employees need complete time off from work.

The amendment is part of a controversial French labor law and some citizens are concerned that the unions will weaken and the insecurity of employees towards their job will increase. However, most French people are in agreement of the complete disconnect from work for employees so they can fully enjoy breaks.
